SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Anthony DeLuca, D-Chicago Heights, issued the following statement Wednesday as a new General Assembly term began:
“I remain committed to prioritizing the needs of working families in our community by strengthening our schools, targeting violence and improving local infrastructure and services.
“It’s always critical that we respect taxpayers by taking a fiscally-responsible approach to our state spending, and this year will be particularly important. Properly restoring the Local Government Distributive Fund (LGDF) would ensure that more funding decisions will be made at the local level, providing residents with better direct services that they use on a daily basis.
“We also need to prioritize and support residents who follow the law, and this General Assembly should responsibly strengthen public safety by investing in our law enforcement so that they can do their work safely and effectively.
“There are real challenges in front of this state, but if we properly prioritize the concerns of the families we represent we can build a stronger Illinois that works better for its taxpayers. I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve this community.”
