AURORA, Ill. — As part of a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, state Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, received the ‘Outstanding Commitment as an Elected Official’ from Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs in recognition of her service as a lawmaker.

“It’s a privilege to work for a better future for a community that has given me so much,” Hernandez said. “From making high-quality healthcare more accessible to guaranteeing more financial support for working families, I’m proud to fight for Aurora in Springfield. I appreciate this recognition from Treasurer Frerichs, and the good work he has done for Illinoisans everywhere.”

Per Treasurer Frerichs, this event is an opportunity to reflect on the great achievments of Hispanic Americans and presents to leaders in the community. Hernandez joined other Hispanic leaders being honored for major roles in business, community service, education and labor.
