MADISON, Ill. – NASCAR’s decision to make the Enjoy Illinois 300 a playoff race and return Xfinity Series racing to World Wide Technology (WWT) Raceway in 2025 is being applauded by state Rep. Jay Hoffman, D-Swansea, state Sen. Christopher Belt, D-Swansea, and state Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, who recognize the speedway as a strong economic generator for the region.

“The Enjoy Illinois 300 has had a tremendous impact for our communities, bringing in visitors and exciting local race fans,” Hoffman said. “It’s incredible what Curtis Francois and his team have been able to do with this raceway, taking it from the brink of demolition and making it a real gem for our region. I’m excited to see what next year’s NASCAR weekend has in store.”

“For the last three years, the Enjoy Illinois 300 has shown resounding success. It’s easily the Metro East’s biggest event,” Belt said. “I’m elated we are already gearing up for next year’s race in September, and I cannot wait to see the event’s continued success, as well as the major economic impact it will have on the region.”

“Those of us who live here have always known that the Metro East is a vibrant and dynamic community; and in recent years, people elsewhere have come to recognize our growth and potential,” Stuart said. “That recognition is bearing fruit, as these exciting events in our community clearly show. I’m thrilled, and can’t wait to help share the best of the community we all call home with people and families from across the region and the country.”

The Cup Series Enjoy Illinois 300, which has typically taken place in June, will now move to Sept. 7, 2025 and will serve as the second race in NASCAR’s top level playoffs next season. Additionally, after a 14-year hiatus, Xfinity Series racing will return to WWT Raceway on Sept. 6, 2025.

According to the raceway, this year’s Cup Series race was their third consecutive sellout of the running, with race fans visiting Madison from 48 states and 20 countries while generating $60 million in economic impact for the Metro East region.
