AURORA, Ill. – State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, is announcing a new round of grants from the Secretary of State’s office that will support local libraries, including the Aurora Public Library District and the Messenger Public Library of North Aurora.
“These grants are an effective way to provide support to our libraries and efficient spending of taxpayer dollars,” said Hernandez. “Added funding will be used to streamline technology infrastructure, expand media collections and promote library programs that benefit nearby residents.”
Grants will total $268,104 for the Aurora Public Library District and $27,117 for the Messanger Public Library of North Aurora. This money will go towards new media purchases, library repairs and other outreach programs to nearby communities. Funding for library grants is drawn from the balanced budget Hernandez helped craft earlier this year.
