BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – State Rep. Sharon Chung, D-Bloomington, is working to make college more affordable and make financial aid more accessible by encouraging students and families to
take advantage of new online tools available through the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC).
“Affordable higher education is the foundation of a better future for our community, and these online tools are going to further that cause,” Chung said. “Giving our kids the skills to compete
in increasingly competitive workplaces will provide the footing for economically secure lives. No graduate deserves to leave school saddled with substantial debt, simply because they come
from a working family. ISAC is making major progress in this area and I encourage everyone looking at higher education to take advantage of these opportunities.”
Chung is highlighting free, one-on-one online support that ISAC is offering for students and families navigating the FAFSA application process. Members of the ISACorps—who are recent college graduates who have been through the college planning process and are trained to assist others—are available to provide guidance and answer questions in English and Spanish.
