ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – State Rep. Mary Beth Canty, D-Arlington Heights, is working to make college more affordable and make financial aid more accessible by encouraging students
and families to take advantage of new online tools available through the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC).

“The next generation of Illinois kids shouldn’t be saddled with huge debt burdens after they graduate from one of our higher education institutions,” Canty said. “These tools can help families prepare for the financial challenges of planning for college. Our children should be taking advantage of the opportunities the degree they earn affords them, not concerned with
repaying huge sums of money that often stay with them for years.”

Canty is highlighting free, one-on-one online support that ISAC is offering for students and families navigating the FAFSA application process. Members of the ISACorps—who are recent college graduates who have been through the college planning process and are trained to assist others—are available to provide guidance and answer questions in English and Spanish.
