PEORIA, Ill. – State Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth, D-Peoria, and state Sen. David Koehler, D-Peoria, are inviting families to come out for an afternoon of summer fun at their annual One Peoria back to school and health fair event scheduled for Wednesday, July 17 from noon to 4 p.m. at Peoria’s Glen Oak Park.
“With another school year around the corner, I’m excited to welcome families back to One Peoria where they can pick up school supplies, handle physicals and join their community for some summer fun,” Gordon-Booth said. “Thanks to the generosity of local community partners, this will help make it easier for families to cut down on their school costs. Supplies are limited, so make sure to arrive early.”
A child-focused family event, One Peoria will provide attendees free food, drinks and carnival games. Free backpacks, uniforms and school supplies will be available, with priority given to the first 200 kids. Items are intended for children six years of age and older, and will only be provided if both the child and an accompanying adult are present. School and sports physicals will also be available.
Partners for this year’s event include Solvera Health, Meridian, YouthCare, Peoria Park District, Peoria Fire Department, Peoria Police Department, Illinois Central College, Product of the Project,
Elite Community Outreach, Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, Center for Prevention of Abuse, Art Inc., Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Peoria, FamilyCore, May I Community Outreach and Oak Street Health.
