Springfield, Ill – Illinois State Representative Stephanie Kifowit (D-Oswego) issued the following statement on proposed legislation to create a new Metropolitan Mobility Authority.
“As a representative for DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will Counties, I am committed to ensuring that all constituents in these regions have proper representation in the consideration of this legislation and the implementation of a new Metropolitan Mobility Authority, should that proposal become a reality. With a combined total of 42 Metra stations and 72 Pace routes, along with significant capital projects, the transportation needs of our communities are paramount. In March alone, Metra recorded 2.6 million riders, while Pace saw 1.1 million riders, highlighting the critical role of public transit in our region.
“I look forward to collaborating with the sponsors, State Senator Ram Villavalam and State Representative Eva-Dina Delgado, on this legislation. Sustainable public transportation is essential for fostering livable communities, ensuring equitable access to opportunities, bolstering our economy, and promoting public health.”
