SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, was recently named to the Illinois Latino Family Commission to work directly with state agencies and stakeholders to improve and expand existing policies, services, programs and opportunities for Latino families.

“Joining this commission is going to give me the opportunity to continue supporting Latino families across Illinois in a new capacity, something I consider a privilege to do,” Hernandez said. “Too often, the Latino community is overlooked, and I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues on the ILFC to tackle major challenges facing Latinos today.”

Hernandez was appointed to the ILFC by House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch, to join other state Representatives and Senators. She will serve on the commission for an initial appointment of two years.
