Rep. Barbara Hernandez Highlights Increased Access to Mifepristone, Reproductive Freedom

AURORA, Ill. – State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, issued this statement following the news that Walgreens will be adding Mifepristone to some of their Illinois stores:

“Recent years have seen radical anti-choice interest groups attempt to clamp down on reproductive rights across the country, however Illinois has been moving from strength to strength. Walgreens is now putting Mifepristone on shelves statewide, and, in doing so, expanding reproductive freedom for tens of thousands of people. Progress like this is only possible because of protections for the right to choose we have recently put in place.

“While this expansion is cause for celebration, as long as extremists are coming for our rights, this fight is ongoing. I will continue to stand with my colleagues in firm opposition to any challenges to bodily autonomy in Illinois.”
