PEORIA, Ill. – State Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth, D-Peoria, is highlighting state support to help the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District secure three new paratransit vehicles under the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) Consolidated Vehicle Procurement Program.

“Residents who use paratransit vehicles deserve safe, reliable and modern vehicles that support their transportation needs,” Gordon-Booth said. “This investment will help to strengthen our local network and underscores our commitment to support transit access.”

The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District is in line to receive three new vehicles for its fleet, an investment estimated at $360,000. The funding comes through IDOT’s Consolidated Vehicle Procurement Program, which aims to lower the overall cost of vehicles by purchasing in bulk. In total, through a mix of federal and state dollars, this program’s award cycle will provide 508 vehicles across Illinois for public and nonprofit entities to expand service, replace aging equipment and support seniors and individuals with disabilities.

“This purchase is done as part of a larger, statewide buy at volume that helps to lower costs for taxpayers,” Gordon-Booth said. “I’m excited for our region’s providers and residents who will benefit from modernized vehicles, and look forward to seeing them on our streets soon.”
