ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — State Rep. Mary Beth Canty, D-Arlington Heights, issued this statement following the news that Walgreens will be adding Mifepristone to some Illinois stores:
“The news that Mifepristone will be more widely available in Illinois is a victory for the right to bodily autonomy. I’m proud that the measures I recently helped pass could pave the way for progress like this. In coming months, I will continue to pursue measures that further secure reproductive freedom, including an effort to keep clinics safe from anti-choice violence.
“These successes can’t make us complacent. Anti-choice extremists and a radical Supreme Court are going to continue to attempt to curtail bodily autonomy. While this fight will be long, progress like this makes me hopeful for the future.”
