ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — State Rep. Mary Beth Canty, D-Arlington Heights, is laying out her agenda for coming months, namely to focus on cutting property taxes, promoting government transparency, and bolstering support for childcare and other pro-family measures.
“I’ve spoken with people throughout our community and it’s clear our priorities are aligned. Measures to cut property taxes, build a more transparent government and guarantee robust support for working families are top of mind,” Canty said. “While I will take action in a number of areas, these are three I am eager to work to improve with proactive legislation that can have a lasting positive impact.”
Last year, Canty accomplished an aggressive legislative agenda, which she hopes to continue to add to in coming months. She has taken steps to guarantee full-day Kindergarten for all Illinois children, combat food insecurity in underserved communities, stop wage discrimination, and ensure fair compensation for public safety employees, or their families, following the employees’ death or serious injury.
“While I’m pleased with the progress I’ve been able to make during my time in Springfield, there is a lot more work to do,” Canty said. “The coming months with my colleagues present opportunities to advance the priorities of this community, and I am confident we can do that good work.”
