SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Ammons, D-Urbana, issued the following statement after Gov. J.B. Pritzker gave his annual budget address last Wednesday:

“We’ve been presented with the building blocks to curate a streamlined budget that works for all Illinoisians, and now it’s time to get to work. I’m more committed than ever to voice the needs of not only our local community in the Urbana area but historically excluded communities statewide — including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities,” said Ammons. “Following the Governor’s State of State Address, one thing is clear — we must continue to prioritize equity in policy, budget making, and more, which means using collective leadership to enhance growth in our communities. I’m honored to be in the presence of my fellow Democratic colleagues who share the same fight as I do — improving our community’s health and social outcomes statewide.”
