Vella Reacts to Governor’s Address, Highlights Need for a Balanced Approach

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Dave Vella, D-Rockford, issued the following statement Wednesday
after Gov. J.B. Pritzker gave his annual budget address:
“As we begin budget discussions, we have to take a balanced approach that prioritizes our schools,
public safety and essential services that residents of all ages depend on. In recent years, Illinois has
chosen a more responsible budget path that has better respected taxpayers, secured multiple credit
rating upgrades and strengthened our ability to handle challenges facing working families. We have to
build on this, and continue to invest in our infrastructure and economic development that will help our
community for years to come. I look forward to engaging area stakeholders and will closely review the
governor’s proposal.”
