OAK PARK, Ill. – State Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, D-Chicago, issued the following statement Wednesday after Gov. J.B. Pritzker gave his annual budget address:

“The yearly process of creating our state budget is one of the most important parts of creating a better, more equitable Illinois. While I am happy about the progress we have made, we cannot lose sight of the importance of improving people’s wellbeing, especially the wellbeing of those in historically marginalized communities. As chair of the Appropriations-Health and Human Services Committee, I will continue to fight for greater resources and support for those who need it most, such as those struggling with addiction or lack of access to physical and mental care. I am excited to begin the budget making process, and to begin working with my colleagues in Springfield to make a responsible and equitable state budget.”
