EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — State Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, is announcing that three local school districts have received a total of over $10,000 in grants from the Secretary of State.
“School libraries are indispensable resources that help enrich the lives and careers of everyone in a community,” Stuart said. “Helping support them is never not a worthwhile investment, which is why I’m so pleased to share that three school districts in our area received grants from the Secretary of State’s office.”
Three Community Unit School Districts (CUSDs) will receive state grants made possible by the budget Stuart helped pass. Collinsville CUSD will receive $3,242; Edwardsville CUSD will receive $6,196, and Madison CUSD will receive $850 to help the districts purchase books and materials, fund programming and more.
“We’ve all seen how kids who have access to books and other materials see their horizons expand and their dreams grow,” Stuart said. “School libraries and librarians provide a service that is uniquely indispensable and helping them to do more of the work they do is one way we’re moving Illinois forward.”
