CHICAGO – To help residents better understand their property taxes and how to appeal, state Rep. La Shawn K. Ford, D-Chicago, is teaming up with the Illinois Association of Black Real Estate Professionals and Cook County Commissioner Larry Rogers, Jr. for a property tax appeal forum and fair Saturday, Dec. 9 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chicago Public Library’s Austin Branch, located at 5615 W. Race Ave. in Chicago.

“This event will help homeowners understand their property taxes and how they can use the appeal process to lower their tax bill,” Ford said. “Particularly for new homeowners, this process can seem daunting. That’s why I’m excited to join the Illinois Association of Black Real Estate Professionals at this event to answer questions and provide feedback that can help families save money.”

The forum and fair are free and open to the public. A breakout session led by the Illinois Association of Black Real Estate Professionals is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. For more information, please contact RepFord@LaShawnFord.com.
