DECATUR, Ill. – To help local businesses continue to recover from severe weather during this summer’s derecho and flooding incidents, state Rep. Sue Scherer, D-Decatur, is encouraging business owners to apply for disaster relief in-person at the Small Business Administration’s temporary outreach office this weekend.
“Those storms took a lot from our businesses and families in the area, and people are still struggling to recover,” said Scherer. “I encourage any business owner who sustained losses this summer to seek out information on what is available.”
SBA is setting up a temporary outreach office to help the public apply to federal assistance programs at the Sangamon County Office of Emergency Management, located 2801 N. 5th St. in Springfield. The office will be open on Friday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Affected individuals may also apply online on SBA’s website: https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/disaster-assistance.
