CHICAGO – State Rep. Kam Buckner, D-Chicago, issued this statement calling for a National Transportation Safety Board investigation after a serious train crash on the CTA yellow line Thursday morning, which so far has left 23 people hospitalized-three in critical condition.

“This morning, CTA riders experienced a tragic accident that left at least 23 hospitalized; their swift recovery would be a blessing. My prayers are with the passengers and CTA staff that were involved. The chain of events that led to this crash remains unclear, however, we should do all that we can to make sure this does not happen again. I am asking the National Transportation Safety Board to investigate the situation if appropriate, to help us isolate the causes and put a framework in place to keep Chicago riders safe and prevent incidents like this from occurring again.”
