ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – In order to help ensure that seniors do not fall for scams, state Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, hosted a representative from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office to present at her Senior Fraud Seminar. At the event, attendees learn how to spot the common tricks that fraudsters use to steal money from residents and how they can protect themselves from falling victim to one of these schemes.

“One of the most impactful ways that we can help seniors is by connecting them to information that can help them safely navigate the modern world,” said Manley. “Seniors can be particularly vulnerable to scams and are often targeted as victims. While it is unacceptable for anyone to have their money or personal information stolen due to a scam, it’s especially harmful to seniors, who rely on fixed incomes. While it’s important that we’re doing everything we can to crack down on these scammers, it is also imperative that we are helping equip older adults with the information they need to steer clear of fraud and keep their wallets and their information safe.”
