SPRINGFIELD Ill. – Reaffirming her commitment to supporting domestic violence survivors, state Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado, D-Chicago, worked with the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) to distribute transit passes to The Network, an organization dedicated to strengthening community-level responses to domestic violence.
“Making sure survivors of domestic violence get the support they need is critical to my work as state representative,” Delgado said. “The ability to move freely is a surefire way we can help this population overcome their traumatic experiences. The Network, RTA and I are committed to making public transportation a tool for change, and this is proof that when we work together, lives can and will change for the better.”
Delgado’s House Bill 1342 creates an assistance program through the RTA to distribute passes preloaded with $20 worth of uses to The Network for use across the agency’s transit network. Those who receive one of these passes can use them on CTA, Pace or Metra trains and buses. 25,000 passes are available through The Network and service providers.
