DECATUR, Ill. – State Rep. Scherer, D-Decatur, supported a number of measures protecting dogs, cats, and other domestic animals, earning the highest rating from the Illinois Humane Society (IHS).

“The animals in our lives bring us such joy, and we owe it to them to be their voices,” said Scherer. “From protecting the health of cats and dogs, to cracking down on disreputable breeders, there’s a lot of work to be done, and I’m proud to stand with advocates for our four-legged friends.”

This year, IHS graded legislators on their support of six bills filed during the 2023 regular session. Scherer voted for all of the following bills:

  • Senate Bill 1882
  • Senate Bill 1883
  • Senate Bill 1230
  • House Bill 1049
  • House Bill 3236
  • House Bill 1533
