CHICAGO – State Rep. Jaime Andrade Jr, D-Chicago, is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, October 25 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Northeastern Illinois University El Centro Campus at 3390 N. Avondale.

“Our nation is facing a critical blood shortage, threatening the lives of thousands of people. We all have a part to play in changing this,” Andrade said. “Patients who come into their local hospital for everything from traumatic injuries to treating chronic illnesses need the blood only we can provide. I hope my community can come out and help fill our blood bank reserves.”

According to the American Red Cross, approximately every 2 seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood or platelets, with these platelets becoming unusable 5 days after donation.

To schedule an appointment, fill out this form. Walk-ins are available and welcome. It’s recommended that participants prepare themselves by eating well and hydrating throughout the day. Government-issued IDs are required. For more information or questions, contact Rep. Andrade’s district office at info@staterep40.com
