BOLINGBROOK, Ill. – State Rep. Dagmara “Dee” Avelar, D-Bolingbrook, in partnership with state Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, and state Sens. Meg Loughran Cappel and Rachel Ventura, is inviting area residents to a Community Shred Event promoting information security and combatting identity theft. The event will be held Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Brooks Middle School, 350 Blair Ln. in Bolingbrook.

“Protecting sensitive information is more important than ever, especially now,” Avelar said. “Securely disposing of papers containing data that thieves can use to compromise identities or gain illicit access to accounts or assets is one of the best ways there is to protect yourself and your family.”

The shred event will enable area residents to securely dispose of up to two boxes of documents per car. Staples and paperclips should be removed prior to arriving. No electronics or medical equipment can be recycled at the event, and boxes may not be left at the site.
