Rep. Rashid Receives a 100% Pro-Environment Score from the Illinois Environmental Council

BERWYN, Ill. –  In recognition of his legislative efforts and work to combat climate change and protect the environment, State Rep. Abdelnasser Rashid, D-Bridgeview, received a 100% rating on his annual scorecard from the Illinois Environmental Council (IEC). 

“Climate change is advancing at an alarming pace, and we must persistently generate bold, innovative ideas to confront it. It will demand a collaborative effort to restore our planet and avert further deterioration,” Rashid said.

The IEC recently published its annual set of legislator scorecards, which are based on their support for environmentally friendly legislation. This year, Rashid was one of 27 Democratic legislators to receive a perfect score. In the State House, Rashid sponsored bills to address the harms of forever chemicals like PFAS. In addition, he supported measures to protect our environment, like water and air, and utilize offshore wind energy to cut back our reliance on fossil fuels.

“I am so proud of the work that my colleagues and I accomplished this past legislative session to make sure Illinois has clean air, potable water and good-paying jobs that will improve our environment,” said Rashid. “Nonetheless, there is more to be done. I look forward to working with my colleagues, Governor Pritzker and all stakeholders to continue addressing the most pressing environmental and energy issues of our time.”
