ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — State Rep. Mary Beth Canty, D-Arlington Heights, issued this statement after all her major legislative accomplishments were enshrined into law:
“In my first session as our community’s voice in Springfield, I had the privilege of successfully implementing measures that will bring fresh produce and other groceries to people who didn’t have them, take steps forward for equal pay and ensure first responders get the medical care they deserve. I also spearheaded legislation to guarantee all-day Kindergarten to every Illinois kid and give parents more input in how their schools are run. Collectively, these steps take Illinois in a fundamentally more equitable and economically sound direction.
“Now that this year’s accomplishments are on the books, it’s time to look to the future, and what we will accomplish next year. Ensuring safer and more reliable transportation, stimulating economic development, cutting healthcare costs, building better schools, securing reproductive rights; these are all areas that I’m pursuing with expert stakeholders. I welcome community input on further priorities for the coming year.”
