BELLEVILLE, Ill. – Area families will be able to cool off and enjoy a new splash pad in Belleville this year thanks in part to state support pushed by state Rep. Jay Hoffman, D-Swansea.
“This new splash pad is a wonderful attraction that children are going to love for many summers to come,” Hoffman said. “It’s a new jewel for our great Belleville Parks and Recreation Department, and I want to recognize the hard work put in by our local officials to make this project a reality.”
Hoffman led the effort to secure funding for the splash pad as part of the state’s 2019 capital plan. Located on the upper level at Bicentennial Park, the water attraction opened to the public with a ribbon cutting Wednesday.
The Belleville Parks and Recreation Department will manage the splash pad, which is expected to be open daily between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. (the splash pad will close daily between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.) Additional rules regarding use of the splash pad can be found at https://belleville.net/764/Belleville-Splash-Pad.
