AURORA, Ill. – State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, is joining Circuit Clerk Theresa Barreiro to hold two Kane County Expungement Clinics to assist Kane County residents with expunging or sealing records. The first will be on April 15, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, at the Aurora Public Library on 101 S. River Street in Aurora. The second will be on September 9, from 9:00 a.m. To 11:00 a.m., at the Gail Borden Public Library, on 270 N. Grove Avenue in Elgin.
“I am holding these clinics with Clerk Barreiro to help people reclaim their futures,” Hernandez said. “My goal here is to ensure that people know their rights and know how to exercise those rights. Members of our community who have committed low-level non-violent offenses should not be forced to carry the burden of their actions if they have the legal rights to expunge them.”
There will be two clinics with specialists on hand to assist attendees with Kane County’s expungement and sealing processes. Waivers for associated fees will be available at the event. Anyone with questions can email circuitclerk@co.kane.il.us.
