Black Caucus Addresses Shooting at Western Illinois University

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Joint Legislative Black Caucus issued the following statement regarding the deadly shooting at Western Illinois University over the weekend. 

“Our hearts and support go out to the grieving family of the individual lost to gun violence and to those who have to live with the physical and emotional trauma of this horrifying event early Saturday morning. No one in any part of our state should have to fear gun violence in their daily lives. We are confident that the full weight of our state’s law enforcement investigative powers are working to bring justice to those harmed and killed by this tragedy. We stand with the students of Western Illinois University and all those who have experienced gun violence as they process this trauma and honor their loved ones.”
