NAPERVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Janet Yang Rohr, D-Naperville, issued the following statement Friday after passing legislation that defends, strengthens, and expands reproductive rights in Illinois.
“Safeguarding and defending reproductive rights has always been a top priority for me. We knew we had to work fast after the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which endangered countless Illinoisans. This upholds my commitment to continue to move Illinois in a better direction by ensuring these personal medical decisions will only be made by women and their doctors – not politicians.
“This legislation also protects transgender individuals by extending gender-affirming care, making Illinois a haven for those seeking these health services. Accessing these services will benefit thousands of people state-wide in vulnerable positions. This legislation maintains Illinois’ stance of protecting people’s reproductive rights and furthers its approach to inclusive health care.”
