SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Dave Vella, D-Rockford, issued the following statement Wednesday after being sworn in for a new term:
“As we begin to move beyond the immediate challenges of the pandemic, it’s critical that we focus on action that bolsters our education system, prioritizes job training and gives everyone an opportunity to pursue a successful career.
“From early childhood through college and vocational training, it’s important that we develop the local education infrastructure necessary to train residents for a 21st century career. Our people are our region’s greatest strength, and if we properly invest in them, we can take significant steps in making this region an economic powerhouse.
“It is also critical that we continue to make increased investments in our public safety. I continue to listen to local police, violence advocates and other stakeholders on ways the state can support our shared goal of a safer community.
“As we begin a new session, I am optimistic of the opportunities ahead. There will certainly be unexpected challenges, but I am confident we can come together to support working families and build a stronger Illinois that works better for everyone.
“I remain incredibly thankful for this opportunity and privilege to serve as state representative.”
