GURNEE, Ill. – State Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, released the following statement Wednesday, taking the oath of office for a new legislative session:

“I would like to thank my constituents for putting their trust in me once again to represent our community. I have lived in this area for over 20 years and have a deep love for the people there. Through my work and volunteer experience, I have found a passion for helping others and advocating for positive change – which has helped lead me to my second term as a state representative.

“I have many legislative priorities for this upcoming General Assembly, some of which are making sure that the younger generations are able to get a proper education; that everyone, including all women and veterans, have access to affordable and comprehensive health care on demand; addressing the mental health and housing status of veterans, and finding effective violence prevention and public safety measures to ensure that those in our communities feel welcomed and safe.

“I have seen these issues impact our community first hand, and I plan to continue to push for solutions in my second term as a state representative. I will do everything in my power to make sure your voices are heard, and that your concerns are addressed. If there are any issues that you might need help with or questions you want answers to, please contact my constituent services office.”
