SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Anthony DeLuca, D-Chicago Heights, issued the following statement Wednesday after being sworn in for a new term:
“As we begin a new term, it’s important that the General Assembly prioritizes the challenges facing working families. We need to work together, in a bipartisan way, to reduce violence, invest in our schools and take real action to lower property taxes.
“As a representative in Springfield, it’s important that I maintain strong relationships with local leaders so that we can deliver on issues that matter to area residents. Together, we’ve pushed measures that create economic incentives for the Southland, enable the construction of modern schools and relieve pressures on property taxes. More work remains, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to further reduce property taxes for homeowners in our community.
“I also know that if we want to tackle violence, we have to listen to our local law enforcement. These are the individuals who are putting in the work each and every day to make our community safer, and it’s critical that we have their back. Our focus should be on passing legislation that prioritizes our officers and helps them to do their job safely and effectively.
“It is an honor to serve as representative, and I am optimistic of the work we will be able to do for our region in the coming year. Together we can build a stronger Illinois.”
