Ford Highlights West Side Heroin/Opioid Task Force Outreach Team Schedule

CHICAGO – State Rep. La Shawn K. Ford, D-Chicago, is encouraging area residents to attend an outreach event from the West Side Heroin/Opioid Task Force Outreach Team, who offer on-site training for residents on how to respond to overdoses as well as free Narcan kits.

“The constant flow of deadly drugs, including fentanyl, in our streets is causing immeasurable pain for families across our community,” Ford said. “But there is hope, and an opportunity to get help or learn how you can help someone suffering an overdose. I urge residents to take advantage of a free training and to pick up a free Narcan kit.”

The task force outreach team works in collaboration with area organizations that provide treatment and support for those with Opioid Use Disorder. These organizations help individuals receive Medicine-Assisted Treatment, which relieves withdrawal symptoms and allows them to safely begin recovery.

The task force outreach team is scheduled to conduct sessions in the following areas, at the street corners, weather permitting.
