CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Ammons, D-Urbana, tested positive for COVID-19 via an at-home, rapid test Sunday, with her positivity confirmed via PCR test today.

“Out of an abundance of caution, I am isolating at home, and continuing my responsibilities as a representative remotely,” Ammons said. “I am doing well, but I have some of the telltale symptoms of a COVID-19 case. Over the past two years, we’ve seen the horrors of the pandemic touch all of our lives. We must stay vigilant, get vaccinated and boosted if we are eligible and keep each other safe.”

A vaccine and booster are highly effective at preventing severe illness and death related to a COVID-19 diagnosis. During the holiday season and winter months, transmission rates are higher than ever, so people should use social distancing and best practices wherever possible.
