SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – To help protect children and keep holiday shoppers informed this holiday season, state Rep. Michelle Mussman, D-Schaumburg, is encouraging parents, grandparents, guardians and anyone buying a gift for a child to review Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s 2022 Safe Shopping Guide.

“We all want to create a magical holiday season for young people in our lives, and part of that requires us to shop for gifts with their wellbeing in mind,” said Mussman. “The attorney general’s annual Safe Shopping Guide helps parents, relatives, and friends be wary of recalled products that may contain hazards such as lead paint and flammable materials.”

Attorney General Raoul’s office recently released its 2022 Safe Shopping Guide, which is the latest edition of the annual list of recalled and hazardous consumer products including children’s clothes, toys and games. In addition to utilizing the guide, holiday shoppers should also review the product’s labels and packaging for information about a product’s hazards and safety guidelines. The 2022 Safe Shopping Guide also has information to help consumers obtain exchanges for recalled products. “Our children are our future, and it’s up to each of us to make sure they are safe and have a holiday season to remember,” said Mussman. “Anyone who is buying a gift for a young person should take a look at the guide if they are unsure of a product’s safety.”
