PEORIA, Ill. – State Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth, D-Peoria, is partnering with Meridian for her 4th annual “A Mother’s Wish” holiday event for children of incarcerated mothers and foster care youth.

“Not every child can be with their biological family during the holiday season and often times, there’s a quiet pain and trauma that children feel when they don’t have the ability to be with their family during the holiday,” Gordon-Booth said. “We also know that many families are doing everything they can to ensure that the children feel loved but inflation costs make Christmas a bit of a burden.”

The annual event, scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 4 p.m., is for children of incarcerated mothers and youth in foster care, and includes hours of games, karaoke, music and more. Thanks to generous donations, participating children will receive toys and holiday gifts to take home. To RSVP a qualifying child, guardians must contact 309-681-1992 or RepJGordon@gmail.com in advance. Space is limited.

“We’re coming together for ‘A Mother’s Wish’ because we want every child to feel special and to have a wonderful holiday experience,” Gordon-Booth said. “I am grateful for the volunteers and those who donated to make this a special day for these children and families. It’s going to make a positive difference.”
