BOLINGBROOK, Ill. — State Rep. Dagmara Avelar, D-Bolingbrook, is highlighting the completion of the new Weber Road diverging diamond interchange with Interstate 55.

“Convenient and efficient transportation is essential to the functionality and wellbeing of our community,” Avelar said. “Our new diverging diamond interchange will make travel safer for our families and help increase roadway capacity so that more drivers can safely get where they need to go.”

The completion of the diverging diamond interchange ended a yearslong construction project that included the addition of a third lane to Weber Road. The project includes modernized traffic signals, new LED lighting, improved drainage and a barrier median, according to the Village of Romeoville.

“The new technology associated with this project, as well as the innovative design of the diverging diamond interchange will make travel easier and safer for residents and visitors alike,” Avelar said. “Improving public safety and quality of life for our community is one of my top priorities as an elected official, and this project moves us closer to both those goals.”
