CHICAGO – State Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado, D-Chicago, encourages struggling families to apply for the ‘Cook County Promise: Guaranteed Income Pilot’ program to secure supplemental income. The application window is open from October 6 until October 21.
“The Promise pilot program is a great opportunity for working families to get the extra income they need to pay the bills,” Delgado said. “With rising inflation affecting them the most, families have to choose between which bills to pay and how they will feed, clothe and support themselves. More comprehensive and direct action is needed to address these financial problems, but this program will go a long way for a lot of deserving families.”
Promise guarantees $500 per month for 24 months for those at or under 250% of the Federal Poverty Level. Eligible applicants should live in Cook County, be 18 years of age or older and are not already enrolled in another supplemental program. Applications will be accepted regardless of immigration status.
Delgado has long been a champion for the working class. She helped pass several key budget items that are delivering real relief to families: suspending the state’s grocery tax, freezing the gas tax and expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit.
“As state representative, I have and continue to fight hard for the policies that bring down costs and support my community,” Delgado said. “I encourage all who are eligible to apply for this program.”
