CHICAGO – State Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado, D-Chicago, is hosting a Domestic Violence Walk and Rally at the 25th District Chicago Police Station at 5555 W. Grand Ave. on Saturday, October 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. The event is co-hosted by the 25th District, Aldermen Gilbert Villegas, Ariel Reboyras and Felix Cardona.
“Domestic violence comes in a lot of forms, and sometimes victims don’t recognize they are victims until it is too late, so we’re coming together as a community to not only show support for victims but also to bring awareness to this problem,” Delgado said. “Men, women, children, adults: anyone can be a victim, so we hope that this Walk and Rally shows people that there is support and resources if you’re a victim.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring a friend, wear purple and come ready to bring attention to domestic violence. The walk begins at 11:30 a.m., weather permitting.
“I highly encourage everyone in our community to come out and support our walk to bring awareness,” Delgado said. “The more awareness we can bring to this issue, the closer we will be to bringing it to an end.”
