DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – State Rep. Anne Stava-Murray, D-Downers Grove, is sharing the news that the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Illinois Council on Women and Girls are seeking applications from female-identifying and nonbinary high-school students to join the Council’s Girls’ Committee. The Council advises the Governor and the General Assembly on policy issues impacting women and girls in Illinois. Selected applicants would serve on the Council for a one-year term.

“Those who identify or present as women and girls are continuing to learn firsthand what can happen when they are not vocal and do not choose to be actively involved in the decisions that affect our laws and communities,” Stava-Murray said. “I think this program presents a golden opportunity for civic-minded young people who identify as female or nonbinary to raise their voices and speak truth to power.”

Applications are due no later than October 23. More information on the program and application process is available at https://isbe.submittable.com/submit/236836/.

Stava-Murray’s constituent service office is reachable at 630-605-0595 or office@repstavamurray.com.
