CHICAGO – State Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado, D-Chicago, will be attending the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration with the Chicago Red Stars at SeatGeek Stadium at 7000 S. Harlem Avenue in Bridgeview on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.
“As a proud member of both the House Legislative Latino Caucus and the House Women’s Caucus, I’m honored to attend Saturday’s game as the team not only celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month but also the inclusion of the Red Stars into our state’s sports license plate program,” Delgado said. “Including our women’s sports teams is not only a way for more sports fans to take part in our city’s sports culture but it also helps pay for our schools, their staff and programs to give our children the education they deserve.”
On Saturday’s event, the Red Stars will provide a tour of their stadium and facility and celebrate the inclusion of their team in the license plate program. Motorists will have the option to represent the Red Stars in custom license plates next year.
Delgado was the chief sponsor of House Bill 4434, signed into law by Governor JB Pritzker in June which gave the Secretary of State the power to issue Chicago Red Star, Chicago Sky, and Chicago Fire license plates as part of the state’s sports license series.
“The Latino community is an important part of our city and state’s sports culture, and I am excited to celebrate my community’s rich cultural heritage with the team, fans and all those who will be celebrating this month with me,” Delgado said.
