CHICAGO – State Rep. La Shawn Ford, D-Chicago, and Rep. Fran Hurley, D-Chicago, as chairs of the Public Safety and Violence Prevention Task Force, are encouraging residents to share their thoughts and submit feedback regarding current trends in public safety and efforts to reduce crime across the state.

“Statistics are important, objective ways we can understand how current policies are working, but community feedback and participation in policymaking are equally as important in our effort to keep communities safe,” Ford said. “Our job as representatives is to listen to our constituents to help solve problems, and that’s a mission of the Public Safety and Violence Prevention Task Force.”

“Public safety is on the top of everyone’s mind, and my top priority is the health and safety of my community,” Hurley said. “As a member of this task force, I am encouraging everyone to submit their thoughts, feedback and ideas about how our task force and the General Assembly can better respond to their public safety needs.”

To submit feedback directly to the committee, residents can email PublicSafetyAndViolencePreventionTaskForce@hds.ilga.gov.
