JOLIET, Ill. – State Rep. Larry Walsh, Jr., D-Elwood, in partnership with Troy Township and the Office of Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, is hosting a seminar on advocacy and fraud protection for seniors on Aug. 9 at 6 p.m. at Troy Township, 25448 W. Seil Road in Shorewood.

“Seniors are frequently targeted in consumer fraud scams and financial crimes,” Walsh said. “I invite our community’s seniors to join us and learn how they can avoid identity theft, scams and other types of fraud.”

Event attendees will learn how to recognize potential attempts at fraud and how to avoid being victimized by scams. The Attorney General’s Office will also provide information on their Senior Help Line for those who need assistance.

“I strive to provide programming and other resources to protect our community members and make their lives easier,” said Walsh. “Thank you to Troy Township and the Attorney General’s office for their partnership in bringing this important educational programming to our seniors.”

This event is free and open to the public. To RSVP, please call 815-744-1963 or email ascaggs@troytownship.com.
