EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – State Rep. LaToya Greenwood, D-East St. Louis, is holding a community shred day on Saturday, July 23, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. It will be held in the parking lot of East St. Louis High School on 4901 State St. in East St. Louis.
“Shred days offer everyone in our community an opportunity to clear out old, potentially sensitive documents without any fear that financial scammers will use them to commit crimes,” Greenwood said. “Serving this community goes beyond my role purely as a lawmaker. I want to provide services as often as I can and I encourage anyone who needs to clear out old documents to join my staff and me this Saturday.”
Only paper materials will be accepted, but small paper clips and staples do not need to be removed from documents before shredding. Plastic bags are not allowed. The event will end early if the shred truck fills up, so people are encouraged to attend early.
