AURORA, Ill. – Continuing her efforts to increase healthcare access and affordability in Illinois, state Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, is asking for constituents to share their experiences with healthcare and help inform her actions as a lawmaker on this vital topic.

“Securing affordable healthcare for all Illinoisans, regardless of income level or insurance status, is absolutely essential,” Hernandez said. “I’m lucky enough to have good health insurance, but when a healthcare bill arrives in the mail, I’m still a little apprehensive about the cost. I can only imagine what it’s like for single parents worrying about paying for their kids’ medical expenses, or people with chronic illnesses whose financial freedom revolves around cost of care. I encourage members of our community to come forward with their stories so we can work together to address these issues.”

Now is a key time to contribute to the lawmaking process as bills for next year will soon start to be crafted. Constituents who want to share their healthcare stories and suggestions for steps forward can contact Hernandez’s office at 630-270-1848 or RepBarbaraHernandez@gmail.com.

“We are privileged to have great medical professionals providing high-level care, but the expensive and often unpredictable payment system surrounding that care isn’t good for anyone—apart from insurance company executives lining their pockets with our hard-earned dollars,” Hernandez said. “Many Aurorans will greatly benefit from more affordable healthcare, and I am committed to making that a reality.”
