Ford Urges Aggregate Producers to Return To Bargaining Table with Local 150

CHICAGO – Today, state Rep. La Shawn K. Ford, D-Chicago, issued the following statement on the ongoing strike between the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 and aggregate producers Lehigh Hanson, Lafarge Holcim and Vulcan Materials:

“More than five weeks after this strike began, I am calling on these three incredibly profitable aggregate companies to get back to the bargaining table immediately and resolve this strike before even more damage is done to Illinois working families.

These companies’ repeated delays in negotiations have done enough damage, and it is time to get back to work. We cannot afford any more of our critical transportation projects to be needlessly delayed or for any more workers to sit idle without an income while these companies refuse to bargain in good faith with the Operating Engineers.”
