ROCKFORD, Ill. – In recognition of June being “National Adopt a Cat Month,” state Rep. Dave Vella, D-Rockford, will visit Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary today to meet with staff and learn about how the community can adopt or support animals at the sanctuary.
“June is ‘National Adopt a Cat Month’ because it is the height of ‘kitten season’ and many felines end up in shelters this time of year,” Vella said. “Cats are wonderful companions, and if you’re looking for a new member of your family, you should check out Rockford’s only no kill shelter.”
A Rockford fixture since 1978, Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary has housed over 20,000 animals over the years. Since 2008, the organization has also operated an animal hospital to provide veterinary care for the community. Residents can learn more and view pictures of animals up for adoption at www.noahsarkanimals.org.
