CHICAGO – State Rep. Fran Hurley, D-Chicago, and state Sen. Bill Cunningham, D-Chicago, are encouraging residents to join them for their annual “Bike Across America” event in Mount Greenwood scheduled for Saturday, June 11.

“With school out and summer beginning, now is a great time to bring out your bike and join us for a fun, family-friendly ride around the neighborhood,” Hurley said. “This will be a relaxing, family-focused event we hope you can join.”

The free community bike event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will begin at Mount Greenwood Park, located at 3721 W. 111th St. in Chicago. Officers from the Chicago Police Department’s 22nd District will provide escort as bicyclists travel around the community for about an hour, with four planned stops. At the conclusion of the ride, riders can meet back up at the park for a healthy snack and to participate in a raffle for a child-sized bike.

No registration is required. Residents with questions are encouraged to contact Hurley’s office at 773-445-8128.
